A Little Night Music; Songs to Stay Awake For

The Wilton Singers presents “A Little Night Music; Songs to Stay Awake For” on Friday May 5th and Saturday May 6th at the WEPCO Complex, 48 New Canaan Road. The program promises a night of surprises where, in true Singers style, the group will perform a wide variety of music from contemporary to classical, from Rockapella to Eric Whitacre. Director Kevin Cotellese, now in his second year with the group, has quickly learned what resonates with both the audience and members of the ensemble and is especially excited to share Eriks Esenvald’s Only In Sleep with Wilton. “It’s a beautiful piece that depicts how, when we dream, memories of our past can be more clear than anything we can recall in our waking hours,” Cotellese explained. “With this sound in my head, and given how much the choir enjoys singing the music of Morten Lauridsen, I added Sure on This Shining Night and Eric Whitacre’s Sleep, and the theme of the program was created!”

Each song in the program is gorgeous, interesting, and exciting in its own way. “Kevin selects a stunningly beautify repertoire for each concert. His choices manage to inspire our membership during rehearsals and wow our audiences every time” says Wilton Singers President Alison Conroy “And it’s a fun night. Audience members are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and even libations to enjoy during the show if they’d like, and seating is ‘cabaret style’.” The Wilton Singers was founded to provide an outlet for adult participation in small ensemble singing, to support the Wilton High School choral program, and to foster an interest in choral singing within the community.
Proceeds from their concerts support two scholarships that are presented each spring to graduating Wilton High School Seniors who have demonstrated music leadership within the choral program at WHS.

Reservations are available online beginning April 1 st . $30 per person. Doors open at 7 pm and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Visit www.wiltonsingers.com for details and to reserve a seat.
